APIAHF | In-Language COVID19 Community Resource Library

This community library developed by Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) is a collection of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) in-language resources on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). AA & NHPI communities are diverse and we want to make sure everyone is getting connected to resources in their languages. The resource links have been submitted by community members, leaders and national and community-based organizations that are actively working to improve the health & well-being of AA and NHPI communities. This project is community-powered and community-driven directly for communities.

VAYLA | COVID-19 Anti-AAPI Hate Crime Incident Report

VAYLA is an intersectional AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) nonprofit organization based in New Orleans focused on advocacy through providing climate and reproductive justice education, community organizing education, comprehensive civic engagement and pathways to citizenship. Stand up against discrimination so we can ensure our most vulnerable young people, elders, patients, medical care providers, store clerks, and all community members are able to access the help they need. Together we must denounce discrimination.

Adhikaar | COVID-19 Community Response

One after another, crises and the government’s (lack of) response to the crisis continues to have grave consequences for our members who are immigrants and workers of color. A vast majority of our community members live in Queens, which is the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. Day after day we are responding to this crisis.

Adhikaar has shifted to respond to COVID-19 crisis in Queens. In early March, the organization created a four-part crisis response plan based on thousands of calls made to our members:

  • Direct relief & services
  • Community education
  • Campaigns & advocacy
  • Organizing

Our worker members are in essential and low-wage industries and are working in the frontlines as domestic workers, Uber/Lyft drivers, grocery store workers, delivery services, restaurant workers, and healthcare workers. Many are also unable to go to work and are not eligible for any of the federal relief packages or unemployment from the state. And many live in some of the hardest-hit zip codes in the country. This crisis demonstrates the harrowing realities of our current social and economic systems and the way it affects those that are extremely vulnerable.

SWIPE FOR VIETNAMESE: Today we celebrate with our Black communities. Juneteenth is a holiday commemorating what is recognized as the first OFFICIAL day where all Black slaves were granted their freedom. This came two whole years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is pivotal for BIPOC to support one another through advocacy and allyship during the struggle, as well as celebrate our victories together! Happy Juneteenth! #juneteenth #solidarity #asiansforblacklives #aapirising

Reviving Sisterhood | COVID-19 Resources in South Asian Languages

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment has created a variety of resource materials in various South Asian languages, including:

  • Ramadan Guides from the Minnesota Department of Health in three different languages
  • Video tutorials  – We know COVID-19 has exacerbated the barriers to healthcare that many refugee and immigrant populations face. Church World Service (CWS) worked with medical professionals and community experts from refugee communities in the United States to create informational videos in 11 languages, many of which are spoken by communities that don’t have COVID-19 information specifically tailored for them.

CAA | STOP AAPI Hate Reporting Center

In response to the alarming escalation in xenophobia and bigotry resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, Asian Pacific Planning and Policy Council (A3PCON), Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA) and San Francisco Asian American Studies Department have launched a reporting center to collect and track incidents of anti-Asian American and Pacific islander hate violence, adult harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying in California and throughout the country. The reporting center will enable individuals who have been directly impacted by or witnessed firsthand this issue to share their stories at www.a3pcon.org/stopaapihate. The lead organizations plan to work with public, private and other community based organizations to develop targeted education and media campaigns, to provide resources for impacted individuals and to advocate for policies and programs dedicated to curtailing racial profiling.

The Asian Pacific Policy & Planning Council encourages all who have witnessed or experienced micro-aggressions, bullying, harassment, hate speech, or violence to help them document and address AAPI hate. The more information collected, the better A3PCON can respond and prevent further incidents from occurring. Submit an incident report form (available in multiple languages) by navigating to this link.
