International Community Health Center (ASIA-ICHC)

ASIA-ICHC (International Community Health Center) delivers comprehensive, culturally and linguistically appropriate healthcare on a sliding scale to all community members, especially those who face economic or language barriers to care. ASIA COVID-19 Update on Services

Asian Services In Action (ASIA) offers a variety of services, most at no cost or for a small fee. We believe in a “no wrong door” approach to our service delivery, with the best care. Clients who come to us for one service will have access to a multitude of other services found at our agency for themselves and their family. With six departments and the International Community Health Center (ASIA-ICHC), ASIA has two social service offices and two health center offices in Cuyahoga and Summit County.

Medical Interpreter Training Course (BBiH)

This 5-Saturday (40 hours) nationally recognized medical interpreter training course provides bilingual individuals with the skills required to deliver accurate and complete medical interpreting in healthcare settings.

Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare, offered by the Interpreting and Translation Services Department at ASIA, Inc. since 2014, is a ONE-OF-A-KIND medical interpreter training course to train interpreters in the health care professions. The Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare: A Medical Interpreter Training Course (BBiH) is open to speakers of 42 languages and follows a curriculum that is the first required step toward national certification for medical interpreters. The 40-hour course provides bilingual individuals with the skills required to deliver accurate and complete medical interpreting in health care settings.

This training will help interpreters, health care providers, and administrative staff work more effectively with LEP (Limited English Proficiency) patients. Participants who pass both the written (English) and oral exams (English and native languages) will be issued the ALTA Certificate of Qualification

Asian Services in Action’s HAPI Fresh Farmer’s Market

The Healthy Asian Pacific Islander Fresh Program (HAPI Fresh) Farm is a four-acre, USDA organic certified farm committed to producing high-quality vegetables at an affordable price. HAPI Fresh Farm provides job and training opportunities for refugees whose age and limited English proficiency pose employment barriers.

We have a variety of fresh, local, and specialty Asian produce for you at our Asian Services in Action’s HAPI Fresh Farmer’s Market, located at Akron Cooperative Farms, in North Hill, every Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at 381 Ontario St. Akron, OH 44310

ASIA, Inc.’s Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Program

ASIA, Inc.’s Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Program provides free representation and support to victims of domestic violence, and sexual assault across Northeast Ohio. Our services are holistic and comprehensive, multilingual and culturally-responsive. Clients can access a range of services including beyond legal representation such as counseling, support groups, and shelter/housing assistance.
